Isle of Man Tax Agency Clarifies FATCA Reporting Requirements for 2022 Reporting Period


The Isle of Man Income Tax Division March 8 issued a notice clarifying financial institution reporting requirements under the U.S. Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) for the transitional 2022 period, due for reporting June 2023. The clarification includes: 1) the requirement for financial institutions to obtain and report the U.S. taxpayer identification numbers (U.S. TINs) of account holders and controlling persons identified as specified U.S. persons; 2) the use the default U.S. TIN of AAAAAAAAA for FATCA, if an Isle of Man financial institution can’t implement the new 2022 codes or has accounts without valid U.S. TINs; 3) amended …
